All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Rochas Okorocha, is set to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to formally declare his presidential ambition.
More APC presidential hopefuls would be making their interests known this week.
A very close source to Senator Rochas Okorocha, the former Imo State Governor told Quest Times that it is in the plan of Okorocha to meet President Muhammadu Buhari later this week and that he would be officially informing and seeking his blessings to run for President in 2023.
Okorocha had declared his intention to run for President for a third time come 2023.
So far, two APC Presidential hopefuls have announced their Presidential ambitions at the Aso Rock Villa. The first was Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former Lagos State Governor who visited the President on January 10 this year and then the Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi. Although Okorocha has already declared his intentions publicly, sources around him noted that the former Governor would be informing the President this week at a meeting in the Villa.
The source close to Okorocha said the former governor is still awaiting confirmation that he will see President Buhari just before the week runs out.
Recall that Okorocha had always wanted to be President since 2003 at least twice; once with the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP and later when he joined the People Democratic Party, PDP.
But he stepped his presidential ambition down in 2011 by running for governorship under APC. He had also shared the same political party with the president when they were both in the All Peoples Party, APP which later became ANPP.
Okorocha later left Buhari and moved to PDP before reuniting with him again in APC.
