A former member of the Green Chamber, Sunday Karimi, has defeated Smart Adeyemi, the senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, after polling 288 votes to clinch the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi West Senatorial district.
This comes just after the lawmaker was seen kneeling before the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, at a recent formal occasion in the State, a development some public commentators saw as “begging for political favour”.
With the recent development, Adeyemi has now lost his bid to return to the Senate for a fourth term, after securing only 43 votes to come third in the race.
