Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s car or convoy was not involved in an accident this morning along Airport Road, Abuja, contrary to reports in certain mediums, according to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande.
“Reports of the vice president’s car summersaulting is fake news. The vice president is now in Ondo to deliver personally, the president’s condolences and message regarding yesterday’s attack in Owo, Ondo State,” Akande tells Quest Times via text message.
The vice president’s spokesperson adds that “on his way to the airport this morning, VP (Vice President) came across a road traffic accident, stopped to lend assistance, and ensured victim was taken to the hospital with VP’s convoy ambulance. He then proceeded on his trip and is now in Ondo State, heading to site of yesterday’s attack in Owo.
“VP’s security and medical teams assisted in removing the victim from the crushed vehicle resulting from a somersault. And transported patient to Airforce base hospital. It was a solo accident. The car had summersaulted on the opposite lane and was impaled on a tree.”
65-year-old Osinbajo is one of the front-runners for the APC presidential ticket. A special, three-day convention to settle on the governing party’s presidential nominee, kicks off today.
