The Black Stars of Ghana have been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup after a 2-0 defeat by Uruguay.
Andre Ayew missed a penalty which would have put them ahead in the first half.
The Black Stars were given a penalty after Mohammed Kudus was brought down by goalkeeper Sergio Rochet.
After VAR inspection, German referee Daniel Siebert pointed to the spot, and Ayew stepped up to the spot.
The Ghana captain stood over the ball for several more seconds only to take a poor low shot that Rochet easily stopped.
Ghana were quickly punished for Ayew’s poor kick, with Uruguay scoring two soon after.
Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored 2 goals but Uruguay were eliminated from the tournament as well, after South Korea defeated group leaders Portugal by 2-1 in the other group game.
The Ghanaians were tactically and technically poor throughout the game and only showed some nerve in the dying stages.
