Nigerian superstar, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed that he tried to convince murdered South African rapper, AKA, to get a gun for his protection.
The Quest Times reports that AKA born Kiernan Forbes was murdered on the night of Friday, February 10, 2023 by unknown assailants in Durban, South Africa.
Burna Boy made the revelation in a tribute to the late AKA in a post on his Instagram handle.
In the post, he reflected back on when AKA saw him with a gun and questioned why he needed it, describing him as wild.
Burna Boy also shared a yet-to-be released track in which he sang about the tragic death of the rapper considered to be one of the best in South Africa, and said the demise of AKA took him off a positive mood.
His post reads, “WTF is all of that about/I just heard he died, seen that video at that restaurant/ Took me out of a positive mood/ Took me back to that day when you saw my gun and you said I was wild/ Then I told you you should have one too/ Cuz it weren’t like nigg*z wasn’t dying but I thought you knew/ And I ain’t really f*ck wit you/ But I didn’t want you dead, it was like that with me and you/ Wicked!/
“I hope they catch whoever did you wicked/ I hope you rest in peace. Even though we ain’t kick it/ At the end of the day we some grown a** nigg*z”.
