The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has distributed materials for Saturday’s re-run election in six Zamfara local government areas.
Prof. Saidu Ahmad, the Residents Electoral Commissioner, made the announcement at a stakeholders meeting on Thursday in Gusau.
He stated that the election was for the Zamfara Central Senatorial District and two House of Representatives seats for the Gusau/Tsafe and Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituencies.
The Senatorial election will take place in the local governments of Gusau, Maru, Bungudu, Gummi, Tsafe, and Bukkuyum, according to Ahmad.
According to the REC, the election will be held in 90 polling units across 24 registration areas across six local government areas.
He also stated that the 90 polling units had a total of 95,332 registered voters, of which 90,900 received their Permanent Voters Card.
Ahmad urged politicians and the media to encourage voters to turn out and vote on time so that the process could be completed on time.
The REC stated that security agencies had assured the commission that they would provide the necessary security for voters to exercise their right to vote peacefully.
