The State Coordinator of Kwara Fadama NG-CARES, Engr. Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka has disclosed that the second batch of farming implements and seedlings will be distributed to 8000 farmers in the state with the target of eliminating poverty and creating job opportunities in the Agric sector.
This is contained in a statement signed by Dr. Sangodare Ayinla, Communications Officer of Kwara Fadama CARES and available to the Quest Times on Wednesday.
The statement captured the Coordinator applauding the Kwara state Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for providing the opportunity to enhance farming activities to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
He said the gesture will go a long way to expand the chosen enterprises for the concerned beneficiaries and the State’s bumper food production.
“The second disbursement by the platform is coming as another phase of succour intended by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to cushion the effects of the covid-19 pandemic on the poor and vulnerable farmers in the State, the intervention as well partly covers the palliative measures designed by the Government for ameliorating the inconveniences evoked by fuel subsidy removal.
According to him, the distribution will go a long way to expand the chosen enterprises for the concerned beneficiaries and the State’s bumper food production.
“Kwara Fadama CARES is about to bring again another opportunity for the indigent farmers in the state as the platform had earlier reached out to about Seven Thousand farmers.
“In this phase, we are taking care of Eight Thousand indigent farmers across the State. It should be noted that this intervention is partway a move to execute the palliative measures to ease the inconveniences caused by subsidy removal.
“While the Fadama NG-CARES is focused on calming the storm brought by the covid-19 invasion and relieve people of the hassle inflicted by subsidy removal, it is a veritable tool to reduce hunger and control poverty among the poor and vulnerable. This is a great avenue used by His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to re-affirm and fulfil his policy of enhancing food security through dedication to agricultural revolution.”
He lauded the Kwara State Governor for always coming to the aid of the poor and vulnerable by improving their economic status and curtailing hunger and poverty, saying that Governor AbdulRazaq has never disappointed Kwarans, especially farmers in the State.
The SPC appreciated the usual cooperation received from the Representative of the Permanent Secretary and management of the Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development and State Fadama Technical Committee.
Busari stated that the items to be distributed include Maize and Soya beans seeds; fertilizer; agro-chemicals; sprayers and smoking kilns, noting that the distribution will be based on the enterprise (inputs or assets) of the group beneficiaries.
