The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the appointment of Major General Kabiru Garba Nadama as Magajin Garin Gusau validates its allegation of a major political gang-up between security agents and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party during the 2023 gubernatorial election.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, accused the newly appointed Magajin Garin Gusau of intimidating and harassing APC members during the elections in the state.
The statement reads, “The political gang up, as alleged by the Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC, by some unscrupulous security agents, especially from the military, in collaboration with some bad elements in the society is beginning to manifest thereby vindicating the APC allegations.
“This was revealed yesterday by Gusau Emirate Council through a directive from the Zamfara state government to appoint Major General Kabiru Garba Nadama as Magajin Garin Gusau for the role he played during the last Governorship elections in Zamfara which the emir of Gusau complied with and approved through a letter the emir personally signed and dated the 23/6/2023 and addressed to a serving army General, Major General Kabiru Garba Nadama awarding the inappropriate title on him as the Magajin Garin Gusau, as reward and appreciation of the General’s effort in ensuring PDP won at the March 2023 governorship election in the state.

“The emir had earlier suspended Halliru Magaji, the senior district head of Gusau who is the Magajin Gari who he alleged was becoming politically inclined, yet gave the title to a serving army officer who openly participated in the election with full allegiance to one political party, the PDP and who did not inherit the traditional title because his late father, Garba Nadama of famous blessed memory is from Jauri village near Gusau.
“It is on record that Gen. Kabir Nadama and Brig. Gen. Samaila Tukur acting on the instructions of the cabals did all they could, including threats to life with guns, harassment, and intimidation against APC members to give victory to someone else.
“It could be recalled that Zamfara State APC has already written a formal complaint to the military high command backed with pictures, videos, and other exhibits on the unprofessional conduct of the soldiers deployed by General Nadama who were red hand banded which we believe is a gross violation of Army rules during elections.
“While we are already challenging the election through legal means at the appropriate court of law, we are duty bound to call on the army high command to investigate the soldiers’ involvement at the election, fish out the culprits and give them the appropriate punishment they deserve to deter others from such untoward attitude in the military.
