The Zamfara State Government approved Major General Kabiru Garba Nadama’s appointment as Magajin Garin Gusau “as a reward” for his purported role in the state’s just-concluded gubernatorial elections.
In an interview with THE QUEST TIMES, the spokesperson, Muhammad Bello Matawalle, Zamafara State ex-governor, Comrade Anas Abdullahi Kaura, alleged that Nadama, who is still an officer, used soldiers under his command. They did everything in their power to intimidate and harass All Progressive Congress (APC) members during the state’s gubernatorial election.
According to the spokesperson over 5000 soldiers were sent to the state on the eve of the March 18 gubernatorial and state assembly elections in the state with over 50 soldiers sent to strategic polling units to intimidate voters against voting for APC.
Kaura said, “Zamfara State have been having security challenges and we’ve been asking them to send soldiers to us but they didn’t. But days before the election (gubernatorial) they sent over 300 vehicles conveying soldiers into Zamfara. Such a high number of soldiers, if they could send them to us to fight insecurity it would be better. But they only sent them during elections.”
He added that the just appointed Magajin Garin Gusau, Gen. Kabir Nadama acting on the instructions of the cabals did all they could, including threats to life with guns, harassment and intimidation against APC members to give victory to someone else.
According to the spokesperson, Matawalle was overthrown because he supported President Ahmad Bola Tinibu, “The Army Generals in the state connive with the opposition to overthrow the government of Bello Matawalle.”
“We have been saying this, but the enthronement will now vindicate us, and the world will now understand that election did not hold in Zamfara.”
Kura claims that a retired army general well-known for engaging in illegal mining activities in the state approved the soldiers’ alleged course of conduct.
The Zamfara State APC has already written a formal complaint to the military high command backed with pictures, videos and other exhibits on the unprofessional conducts of the soldiers deployed by General Nadama who were red hand banded which we believe is a gross violations of Army rules during elections.
