The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been hailed for their amazing performance against the Pharaohs of Egypt in their Group D AFCON opener in Garoua.
The Austin Eguavoen-coached side dominated the Pharaohs, creating 13 chances as against Egypt’s 3, with 15 shots to Egypt’s 4.
“Seniorman” Kelechi Iheanacho put Nigeria 1-0 up in the 29th minute, with a powerful left-footed shot. Moses Simon, Taiwo Awoniyi and Iheanacho linked up well, causing havoc to the Eygptian backline.
Despite dominating proceedings, the Super Eagles couldn’t extend their lead and had to settle for a 1-0 win.
The Nigerians impressed fans and spectators with their style of play even with the low scoreline Eguavoen’s side looked very composed and organised in possession, and pressed very efficiently when they lost possession.
Following their impeccable display, some fans and footballers took to social media to hail the Super Eagles.
