The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), a group made up of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has met and revealed that the party’s convention will be held in February, 2022.
This is coming on the heels of accusations and rumors that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni, has been doing everything possible to ensure that the convention doesn’t hold for now.
Some argue that the reason for the intentional delay is to ensure Buni doesn’t leave the helm of affairs before the party adopts a presidential candidate.
If that happens, he could have capacity to influence things–and some believe he’s eyeing the Vice President’s seat
PGF has now stepped in.
Atiku Bagudu, PGF chairman and Governor of Jigawa has confirmed that the convention will hold in february, but that the exact date will be announced by the Buni panel.
“The party agreed that the convention would take place in February.
“We are one group of stakeholders in the party and our party respects institutions. The appropriate organ of the party that will announce a date for the national convention is the CECPC.”
Buni was absent from the meeting.
