Thousands of ecstatic fans gave Argentina’s squad a heroes’ welcome in Buenos Aires after the plane carrying Lionel Messi and his World Cup-winning teammates touched down at Ezeiza airport.
The Argentina national team arrived in the country in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The team led by captain Lionel Messi became world champions after beating France in the finals on Sunday.
The players arrived the country with the technical team and staff, and joined an open top bus for a parade.
Messi scored twice in the final which was forced to penalties by Paris Saint Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe, who netted a hat-trick for France.
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was the hero of Argentina, saving Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman’s spot kick before Aurelin Tchouameni fired wide.
Messi, who earlier announced he will be retiring from the national team at the end of the World Cup, was named player of the tournament.
