Lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have received full salaries for the month of November 2022, while backlog of arrears remain unpaid.
It was gathered this morning that the eight-month arrears remain withheld by the Federal Government.
A lecturer of the Bayero University Kano, who preferred anonymity for this story, disclosed this on Wednesday morning.
“Some of our members have started receiving salaries and I can confirm to you that we received our full salaries for the month of November. However, the arrears are still withheld,” he said.
The Federal Government had refused to pay the striking lecturers for the eight months duration of the strike. They were however paid half salary in October, a decision that was rebuffed by the lecturers.
