Nigeria’s music star, Davido, also known as David Adeleke, has taken down a controversial video after receiving criticism and backlash from the Muslim community.
Davido, who is the boss of Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), had shared a new music video titled “Jaye Lo” by his artist Olamilekan Taiwo, known as Logos Olori, on July 21, 2023.
The 45-second clip in the video showed some men dancing in front of a mosque, which some Muslims found offensive.
As a result of the outrage on social media, with some threatening violence, Davido decided to delete the video from his social media pages.
In reaction to his decision to delete the video, Twitter users reacted with mixed reactions. Muslims on social media welcomed the deleting to the tweet, while stans of Davido expressed disappointment with the 30BG leader for bowing to pressure.
Here are some reactions gathered by The Quest Times
Popular Hausa actor Ali Nuhu was called out for threatening harm to Davido and then deleting the tweet.
Ali Nuhu called for harm on Davido, he can't just delete the tweet and act like all is okay. Nope.

@symplyDAPO “Why did Davido delete that video, after waiting this long when everyone has moved on.” This is what we call PR at its best. Now everyone is posting that video on their page.

@Niellsbaba The aim of the religious mob was not to just make @davido delete the tweet, but rather to make you afraid&believe they have a monopoly of violent control& can force anyone to do what they want if they can do it to the strongest of you. The video has been reposted by many, no mobs agn
@pearlddiva Davido deleting that tweet is honestly disappointing. That’s why e nor kuku be my fav before. Baba nor get mind. No amount of cancelling would bring wizkid to delete his hustle. Them nor dey decide for my fav, them for cry till thy kingdom comes.
It's baffling that the only reason these guys didn't want Davido to delete an obviously offensive video to Muslims is simply because it is offensive to Muslims.
