A 24-year-old woman has been taken into custody on accusations of causing the death of her co-wife’s four-day-old infant using insecticide.

The Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, conveyed this information through a statement titled “24-year-old Woman Arrested for Fatally Poisoning Stepson in Ningi LGA,” which was shared with reporters in the State on Tuesday.

The tragic incident unfolded in Bantu Village within the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Superintendent of Police Wakil stated that the baby, born on August 15, 2023, tragically lost its life on August 19, 2023, prior to its naming ceremony, due to the actions of Abubakar.

The suspect reportedly entered her co-wife’s room with insecticide, leading to the infant’s demise.
