At least two members of staff of the US Consulate abducted by gunmen during an attack on a US Embassy convoy on Tuesday have been rescued.
The Quest Times had reported that two suspects linked to the attack on officials of the Consulate of the United States of America and their police escorts in Anambra State, were arrested.
While speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, said two persons of interest were arrested and had been assisting the police investigation into the attack that claimed the lives of seven persons.
However, a statement issued by the spokesperson for the state police command, Tochukwu Ikenga on Friday, noted that joint security forces rescued unhurt the two remaining victims abducted during the attack on a US convoy attack along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
He said; “In the early hours of today, 19/5/2023, the joint security forces rescued unhurt the two remaining victims abducted during the attack on a US convoy along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
“Operations are still ongoing and further details shall be communicated, please,” he added.
