The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) refuted false claims circulating online that Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, had passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023.
The DHQ, through Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, clarified that General Musa is not only alive but also in good health. The statement emphasized that the CDS had just returned from an official assignment abroad, debunking the unfounded rumors.
Furthermore, the DHQ revealed that the platform responsible for the misleading report had retracted the story and issued a formal apology to General Musa, his family, and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Gusau condemned the false publication, labeling it as unfortunate, unethical, and lacking credibility. He asserted that General Musa has resumed his duties with renewed vigor, continuing his exemplary leadership to advance the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

“The attention of the Defence Headquarters has been drawn to an unfortunate publication by an online newspaper alleging that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa passed away yesterday.
“The report is unfortunate, unethical and lack credibility.
“To put the records straight the CDS, General CG Musa is alive and hearty. The Chief of Defence Staff who just returned from an official assignment outside the country has resumed work with more vigour to continue with his uncommon leadership style to prosper the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
“The online newspaper has since retracted the news story and offered its unreserved apology to the CDS, his family and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
