The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has urged the striking labour unions to avoid politicizing the labor movement.
This plea was conveyed in an official statement released through the Ministry’s official communication channel on Thursday.
In response to the labour unions’ decision to halt flight operations to Imo State following an attack on the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, members of these unions caused significant disruptions at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday, leading to traffic gridlock.
Minister Keyamo has cautioned the unions against targeting the Nigerian aviation sector, emphasizing its critical economic significance in the country’s development.
“Keyamo appeals to the Labour unions to desist from politics in the name of the Labour movement. While he condemns the manhandling of the Labour president in an incident in Imo state, he is of the opinion that the aviation sector should not be the target because of its economic importance to the development of our great nation.”
