The President in an exclusive Interview with THE QUEST TIMES on Friday emphasized that the government should hasten up local refineries in the country to enable the crude oil product to be available in large quantities.
Alhaji Ahmed said, ” The news on the fuel subsidy removal wasn’t surprising because since the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) into law I know that the fuel subsidy would be removed. The only thing that came as a shock was the unpreparedness of the federal government before the removal of the subsidy as there are a lot of things they were supposed to put in place in advance to alleviate the suffering of the public.
” Actually the new price of the fuel product is high to the public but if you look at the template of the NNPC it’s a normal price. It’s only when we go into it for sometime that the dynamics of the market will work on stable price.
” At IPMAN too we’re concern and want the government to hasten up with these their local refineries production and Dangote refinery too is there. When we have more local refineries the prices of crude oil will naturally go down by the forces of demand and supply in the market.”
On assumption that the fuel subsidy arrangement is Scam he debunked it stressing that it was mismanagement on the part the federal government.
He also appealed to the federal government to rollout massive palliatives to cushion the effect of hardship on Nigerians as they IPMAN too will play their part to ensure availability of the fuel product nationwide.
