President-elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu has shocked Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike by saying the latter will have to lobby him to reimburse the cost of the flyovers built on the federal government’s roads in the state.
Tinubu claimed he owed Wike nothing for the construction of the flyovers because they are going to be enjoyed by people of the state.
Wike previously asked the President-elect to reimburse Rivers State for the cost of federal government road projects when he takes office on May 29.
Wike stated that a letter requesting the refund has already been prepared for the state’s incoming governor, Siminialaye Fubara, which he will sign upon taking office, asking the President to approve the refund.
However, while commissioning the 12th flyover built by Gov. Wike, Tinubu stated that he will not reimburse the State Government for the cost of the flyovers built on federal government roads.
Tinubu stated that he owed nothing to the governor and that the roads were being used by Rivers residents.
He said, “the 12 flyovers and the demands you made for refund l, I owe you nothing, it’s your road.
“You can’t chuckle at me and make a demand. You are the one using the road. I commend your effort. You have to lobby me,” he added.
