A muslim woman, known as Hafsat mohammed, has commenced distribution of Christmas trees to many pastors and top Nigerian Christian leaders across the 19 Northern States, with the aim of strengthening Christian-Muslim relations among the citizens.

Quest Times understands that Hafsat has already distributed 50 Christmas trees to many Christian families, including widows and orphanages.

Speaking to our Reporter, Hafsat said the desire to see religious harmony among the citizens, pushed her to embark on the project in the season of Christmas.

She added that  Christmas provides an opportunity for Muslims worldwide to demonstrate to their Christian neighbours that Islam is a religion of peace, forgiveness, love and tolerance.

Hafsat, who had distributed over 30 Christmas trees to some Christian homes in the southern part of the country, said she usually saves money for the period of 6 months to enable her to buy Christmas trees from Lagos down to the north.

This she has been doing in the past 8 years.

“Ethno-religious, and political crisis has caused many setbacks in the northern part of the country, hence the need to promote peace and unity, tolerance and better understanding to live in peace and harmony,” She said.

One of the Pastors who received the gift, expressed delight over the woman’s gesture.

He said, “we are one family under God, hence the need for us to live in peace and harmony.”

“The church cannot forget her for this effort of sending many Christmas trees and other foodstuff to the Church, widows and orphans during the Christmas season,” he added.
