Thaddeus Atta, a member of House of Representatives, has responded to the Lagos State National and State House of Assembly Election Petition tribunal’s decision. The tribunal ruled in favor of a rerun election in Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
The tribunal, on September 11th, issued an order for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize a supplementary election within 90 days.
This order included the withdrawal of the return certificate previously issued to Atta and conducting elections in areas where the initial election did not take place on February 25th.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Thaddeus Atta clarified the situation, assuring his supporters that he was not removed from office.
He emphasized that the court’s decision only pertains to the rerun election in the 32 polling units where the election did not hold on the specified date in 2023. He emphasized that there is “no cause for alarm” and called for calm among his supporters.
