Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has renewed the appointment of Professor Salisu Usman as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, for a second term. The announcement was made on Monday through a statement by Olale Uredo, the institution’s Director of Public Relations and Protocol.
Governor Ododo highlighted Professor Usman’s outstanding performance during his first term as a key reason for the re-appointment.
Professor Usman expressed his gratitude to Governor Ododo for recognizing his contributions to the institution’s growth. He also extended his appreciation to the immediate past governor, Yahaya Bello, who initially appointed him as acting rector before his official appointment was confirmed in 2021.
In his statement, Professor Usman thanked the Governing Council, Academic Board, Management, staff, and students of the polytechnic for their invaluable support, which has been crucial in the institution’s transformation. He pledged to continue his efforts to enhance the polytechnic’s visibility and reputation during his second term.
Professor Usman said, “I will put in much more effort in this second term to strengthen the positive visibility of the institution.”
Under Professor Usman’s leadership, Kogi State Polytechnic has seen significant improvements. These include massive infrastructure development, enhanced security, full accreditation of programs that had been stagnated for years, administrative reforms, and the restoration of discipline and general quality assurance.
