Former President Muhammadu Buhari, in a recent interview with Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), shared the challenges he faced during his quest for the presidency, highlighting the role of divine intervention.
Buhari recalled the tough times when Nigerians mocked him, attributing their laughter to his financial limitations in the pursuit of presidency. Despite the skepticism, he expressed gratitude to God for the timely intervention of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), which played a crucial role in his political journey.
Reflecting on his failed attempt for the presidency: Buhari said: “I had no man to blame but myself, i made up my mind to continue trying, people laughed at me because here is a stupid poor man who wanted to relieve Nigeria but has no money to give us, but God saved me by sending technology, the Permanent Voters Cards.
“This was the attitude of some people, I feel patriotism in the profession I found myself in after leaving secondary school was fantastic. I try to be fair where I find myself
“I found myself struggling to gain support because Nigerians seem to be impressed more by material success rather than be honoured by the less privileged, we’re a fantastic initiative,” he added.
