In a brazen act of theft, a boy named Bolaji Johnson has reportedly absconded with a truck filled with 600 bags of cement in Ogun State.
The incident occurred at the Dangote Cement Plant in Ibese, where the truck driver, Adelakun Joshua, had entrusted the vehicle to Johnson for loading.
Quest Times gathered that while Joshua remained at the site, Johnson vanished with the truck, taking the entire shipment of cement.
Issa Saheed, a truck manager at the Ifytex Company, Ibese, reported the theft to the Imashayi Police Division. He stated that the truck, bearing the number plate WDL 643 XA, had been given to the driver, and despite efforts, they were unable to locate the stolen truck and the motor boy.
Confirming the incident on Wednesday, Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer, emphasized that the motor boy was not affiliated with the company that employed the truck driver.
She noted that the driver was cooperating with the investigation, stating that “The incident was reported by the truck manager. We are investigating the incident. The truck driver is also assisting in locating the whereabouts of the truck.”
Expressing concern over the rising trend of truck thefts, the state Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodu, has announced plans to increase stop-and-search operations for trucks on the roads. This measure aims to curb the growing incidence of conspiracy between drivers and their motor boys in stealing trucks.
