The spokesperson of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Mr. Laolu Akande, has described as “false and speculative,” certain news reports in the mainstream and online media, that the nation’s number two citizen would declare to run for President after the APC convention.
Osinbajo, 64, is believed to be nursing a presidential ambition; and he has been widely touted as President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.
A couple of media houses have gone as far as putting a date to a speculative presidential declaration from Osinbajo, but his aide has dismissed the reports as mere fabrications.
“I have seen “news” that VP will announce presidential bid after APC’s convention. Anyone reading the story will know it’s all false and speculative snippets,” Akande tweeted.
“Any information on activities and actions of the VP will come directly from his office and not sponsored speculations in the press.
“The VP continues focusing all his attention on the work of this administration and on supporting Mr. President in every possible way. Please continue to ignore the speculations,” he added.
A slew of politicians have since declared to run for the Nigerian Presidency since the turn of the year.
