Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle has lost his re-election bid to Lawal Dare of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Declaring the winner of the election in the early hours of Tuesday, Kassimu Shehu, the returning officer, said Lawal polled 377,726 votes.
“That Lawal Dauda of political party PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner of the election,” he said.
The returning officer announced that Matawalle, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured a total of 311,976 votes.
Nasiru Magarya, speaker of the Zamfara House of Assembly, earlier lost his reelection bid.
