Protest rocked Kano State in response to the surge in petrol prices from N195 to N617, the devaluation of the naira, an escalation in tuition fees, and various other policies that have had a detrimental impact on the masses.
The protest is led by The Joint Action Front (JAF), with support from the Alliance for Surviving COVID-19 and Beyond (ASCAB) and the Coalition for Revolution (CORE). These civic organizations are fully backing the Nigeria Labour Congress’ nationwide action on August 2.

In a united front, the protesters are demanding the immediate reversal of the unjust petrol price increase from N617 to N195, along with the rollback of other unfair policies, including the fee hike in public tertiary institutions and the devaluation of the naira.
According to them, these policies have inflicted immense hardships on the Nigerian masses.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have agreed to come together and mobilize for mass action while engaging with the Federal Government to address these pressing issues.
