In a recent episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, Nigerian artiste Michael Adebayo Olayinka, widely known as Ruger, opened up on his pre-stage rituals and the importance of acknowledging God before every performance.
The ‘Dior’ crooner shared that he believes in the power of spiritual preparation in which he takes several steps to ensure his spirit, body, and soul are ready before going on tours.
“Before I kick off my America tour, I used to go to Eko Atlantic and run like four times, get back into my car, and go home. So, it helps my energy. I made sure I ate well and slept well. Prayer too. Fasting and prayer just to be prepared spiritually”, Ruger said.
Ruger further explained that he upholds the ethics of his faith, despite dancing with girls on stage.

“I’m a Christian. I pray even before I go on stage to perform. It just works. We are allowed to party. It’s just like I’m partying. I’m not a bad person. The fact that I dance with girls on stage doesn’t mean I’m a bad person.”
Furthermore, Ruger highlighted the responsibility he and his team take in ensuring the safety and appropriateness of his performances. Before bringing any girl on stage, his team thoroughly verifies the girl’s age:
“Before I bring any girl on stage, my team checks to make sure they are above 21,” he added.
