The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, on Thursday dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Muhammad is the deputy to Governor Aminu Tambuwal who is the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign of Atiku Abubakar, the party’s flagbearer in the election.
This development is coming just 16 days to the February 25 Presidential election.
Dan Iya tendered his resignation in a letter to the PDP Chairman of Kware Ward, Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The letter read: “I write to notify you of withdrawal of my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from 8th February 2023.
“I appreciate the opportunities given to me, which made me serve in various capacities under the PDP,” he wrote.
A serving council chairman and a Commissioner, for Careers and Security Matters in Tambuwal’s led administration Colonel Garba Moyi Isa retired had in August defected to the opposition APC from the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Colonel Moyi while declaring his defection Said he decided to dump the party as Tambuwal’s administration lacked transparency and accountability to govern the state effectively and efficiently.
Moyi further stated that the leadership quality of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko made him join hands with the senator to undertake the affairs of Sokoto APC supporters and to associate himself with his giant efforts.
