Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for accomplishing in just 100 days what Muhammadu Buhari administration struggled to achieve over many years.
During the time of former President Buhari, Nigeria had a diplomatic dispute with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), resulting in a visa ban on Nigerians and the suspension of flights between the two countries. This situation persisted since October 2022.
However, breaking news emerged on Monday when the presidency announced a significant breakthrough. President Tinubu, in Abu Dhabi, successfully concluded a historic agreement with the President of the UAE, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This agreement led to the immediate lifting of the visa ban on Nigerian travelers.
Fani-Kayode, formerly associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and now a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended the current administration’s swift action. He highlighted that in just a matter of days, President Tinubu achieved what the previous government struggled to do for years.
“In recent days, our President has repositioned Nigeria on the global stage, where it rightfully belongs,” Fani-Kayode stated. He pointed to President Tinubu’s successful participation in the G20 summit in India, which attracted significant investments to Nigeria.
Also, during his visit to the UAE, the President resolved not only the visa ban but also addressed the issue of Emirati funds held at the Central Bank and the matter of flight routes and air travel between the two countries.
“These accomplishments were achieved within a few days, something the previous administration couldn’t achieve despite prolonged and often contentious negotiations,” Fani-Kayode remarked. He expressed pride in the President’s achievements, asserting that Nigeria, under his leadership, is on the path to resurgence.
President Tinubu’s actions have not only restored confidence and hope but have also showcased to the world that Nigeria, the Giant of Africa, is reawakening. Fani-Kayode concluded with gratitude, saying, “Glory be to God.”
