Workers at the Court of Appeal in Abuja have been instructed to stay home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. This particular day marks the scheduled judgment date for the petitions contesting the election victory of President Bola Tinubu.
The directive was communicated through a memo issued by the Chief Registrar of the Court, Oluwaleye Oluwasegun David. According to the memo, only individuals possessing proper identification tags will be granted access to the court premises.
The memo emphasized that this precautionary step aims to establish a peaceful and accommodating environment for the special session of the Presidential Election Tribunal.

The memo reads: “In view of the above, very strong security apparatus have been arranged to man the entrance of the Court and also in all strategic areas of the Court Complex.
“In addition, only staff with tags provided by the Management will be allow into the Court premises. Please be informed as instructed.”
Note that the tribunal is currently deliberating over petitions brought forth by Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, and the Allied Peoples Movement. These petitions challenge the legitimacy of Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election held in February 2023.
