Caleb Westberg, the Registrar of Chicago State University (CSU), has raised concerns about the authenticity of the certificate presented by President Bola Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
According to reports from the People’s Gazette monitored by Quest Times, this revelation came to light during a deposition of school officials in Chicago.
During the proceedings, Westberg expressed doubts about the legitimacy of Tinubu’s certificate, which is dated June 22, 1979, and was submitted to INEC on June 17, 2022.
Westberg pointed out that the certificate was not issued by the university, and as such, the school’s administrators could not authenticate its origin.
Westberg, who has been CSU’s registrar since November 2020, further stated that there was no record of Tinubu applying for a replacement certificate, nor was he ever issued one by the institution.
This controversy surrounding Tinubu’s educational credentials has escalated, with Federal District Judge Nancy Maldonado recently granting a final order for CSU administrators to provide all relevant documents related to Tinubu and cooperate with a deposition by an adversarial team of lawyers deployed by Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.
It’s worth noting that the university had initially asserted that Tinubu was a student at CSU, enrolling in 1977 and graduating in 1979.
