The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed his confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory in Rivers State, currently held by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dr. Ganduje, who is the former governor of Kano State, shared his optimism during a meeting with the leadership of Senator Magnus Abe’s group within the APC at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. He highlighted the unity among the three major blocs within the APC in Rivers State as a key factor in the party’s resurgence.
“We have now come to the end of the problem in APC Rivers State, as the three major blocks have now come to work together to build APC that we know in Rivers State,” said Ganduje.

These three blocs, according to Ganduje, consist of long-standing APC members, individuals who had previously left the APC but are returning, and members from the PDP who are joining the APC ranks. He emphasized the promising signs of unity and collaboration among these groups.

“The first of the three blocks are the APC members that have been there despite all that happened. The second is the group of those who broke away from APC for one reason or the other and have decided to come back to the fold. That block is very strong and that shows hope and the third block is the block coming from the PDP. This is from the wind that we have seen so far.”
Senator Wilson Ake, the leader of the delegation from Senator Magnus Abe’s group, expressed confidence in Dr. Ganduje’s leadership and his capacity to revitalize the party, especially in Rivers State, which has faced various challenges leading to internal disagreements.
Ake pledged the group’s support in rebuilding the APC, highlighting their past efforts in supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s success and their desire for a stronger and more robust APC under the leadership of the National Leader and the Chairman.
Furthermore, Dr. Ganduje revealed the APC’s plan to establish functional party offices in all 8,813 wards across the country, bringing the party closer to the grassroots. He also mentioned that the party is in the final stages of establishing a National Institute of Progressive Studies.
These developments indicate the APC’s commitment to expanding its presence and strengthening its structure nationwide, as it seeks to make inroads into states currently held by opposition parties.
