Xavi Hernandez, the manager of Barcelona, wants four first-team players to leave the team as part of a clearout effort to make room for the acquisition of Lionel Messi this summer.

According to Sport, Xavi will inform Jordi Alba, Franck Kessie, Ferran Torres, and Ansu Fati that they will not be a part of his plans for the upcoming season.

When his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in a month, Messi is anticipated to depart the club.

Barca’s continued financial issues could make their efforts challenging.

Messi has a contract offer from Saudi Arabia on the table, but he would rather play in Europe.

For the upcoming season, Barcelona must lower their salary expenditures from €600 million to €400 million in order to sign new players and any new contract.

That figure has already been narrowed by the retirement of Gerard Pique and the exit of Sergio Busquets this summer
