As the 2023 general elections draw nearer, President Muhammadu Buhari has advised Nigerians to reject any politician who would return the country back to the era of excessive corruption.
Corruption, according to Buhari, is wicked and should be condemned by all Nigerians ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He disclosed this at a symposium in Abuja convened by the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, on fighting corruption in Nigeria.
The President, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, stated that he would leave a legacy of zero tolerance for corruption to Nigerians.
“In a matter of weeks, Nigerians will need to go to the polls again to elect their leaders in the general elections.
“I beseech Nigerians to reject politicians who would drag our country back to the dark ages in which corruption was made the order of the day,” he said.
Since his inception as president, Buhari has expressed his displeasure for corruption.
On several occasions, the president vowed to tackle corruption in Nigeria.
Despite his resolution, he has continued to be criticized over his inability to tackle corruption effectively.
