Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, stirred controversy with his recent visit to the Abuja National Secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday.
El-Rufai, a familiar face within the All Progressives Congress (APC) circles, surprised many as he engaged in discussions with the National Chairman of the SDP, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam.
Having previously served as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and faced a nomination rejection by the Senate under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, El-Rufai’s move signals a potential recalibration of his political view.
The meeting with SDP leadership has sparked speculations of El-Rufai’s possible defection from the ruling APC to the SDP.
Observers speculate that El-Rufai might be eyeing a significant role in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
