At least 7,000 security agents, including the police, army and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are set to be deployed across Ondo State for the general elections.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyediran Oyeyemi, stated this on Tuesday, shortly after a meeting with the heads of security agencies in Akure, the state capital.
Oyeyemi explained that security operatives were being deployed for the election amid the scarcity of fuel and Naira notes.
This came as the Administrative Secretary and acting Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, Mr Oyetola Oyelami, revealed that 17,562 ad hoc staff had been trained for elections in the state.
Açcording to Oyeyemi, over 300,000 PVCs had not been collected.
