Eight people have been reported killed by bandits in Atak’Njei, Ungwa Gaiya village, Zangon Kataf Council, Kaduna State.
The attack comes less than 24 hours after one in Birnin Gwari Council, where nine people were killed and others were kidnapped.
Atak’Njei is home to the palace of the Atyap supreme king, Agwatyap.
Though the police have yet to reply, the council chairman, Francis Sani Zimbo, who confirmed the incident, revealed that the perpetrators assaulted the neighborhood around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday. He further stated that the injured are currently being treated at several facilities in the vicinity.
According to reports, the bandits broke into five residences and shot eight individuals dead, injuring four others.
Sam Timbuwak Achie, National President of the Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA), also spoke out, calling the incident “barbaric.”
He charged security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.
The latest onslaught comes few weeks after 10 persons were slaughtered at Langson community in the same council area.
