Legal icon, Aare Afe Babalola, has called on Federal Government to toe the path of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, by approaching the creditors either for total forgiveness or substantial reduction of the external debt owed by the country.
Afe Babalola also urged President Buhari’s led administration to set up a committee for immediate payment of a substantial part of the external debt owed by the country.

This was made known in Ado Ekiti while speaking with newsmen noting that the proposed committee will seek the assistance of billionaires, trillionaires and other patriotic Nigerians that would donate to offset the debt. Adding that the suggestion is necessary to guide Nigeria from becoming bankrupt.
Legal luminary said the committee should be comprised of people of impeccable character like Pastor Enoch Adeboye, former President Obasanjo, and Bishop Mathew Kukah.
He said; “The country’s external debt as of June 2022 had reached N42.84 trillion which he said was alarming.

“The Federal Government should also toe the path of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, by approaching the creditors either for total forgiveness of the debt or substantial reduction.
“The committee should be comprised of people of impeccable character like Pastor Enoch Adeboye, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Bishop Mathew Kukah, I would make my contribution to ensure that the debts are paid.
