Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe, the National Vice Chairman (South West) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has raised concerns regarding the legitimacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
He said this during a panel discussion organized by the League of Veteran Journalists in Osun State.
Ajisafe questioned the basis of APC’s victory, highlighting that they secured only 33 percent of the total votes cast during the initial ballot. He stressed the need for a reevaluation of the electoral process, citing both legal and performance-related concerns.
From a legal standpoint, Ajisafe argued that the APC’s victory lacked solid justification, especially considering the party’s perceived lackluster performance.
He opined that “apart from the questionable legal interpretation of the electoral victory, a party with such unimpressive background like APC is not deserving of an extension of rulership at the national level.”
Furthermore, Ajisafe pointed out that many Nigerians are dissatisfied with the APC’s performance under President Buhari’s administration. Despite facing challenges leading up to the election, he underscored that internal and external factors played significant roles in influencing the outcome of the PDP’s bid.
