Respite at last as the Abuja-Kaduna railway services will resume operations on Monday.
Recalled that the estwhile Minister of Transport, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, former had disclosed that the Abuja-Kaduna train service generates at least N300 million every month.
“We make N300 million per month from the Abuja-Kaduna train,”.
When this figure is multiplied by eight it will be N2.4billion lost during the suspension.
Also Quest Times had earlier broken the news few weeks ago when the Minister of Transport, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo disclosed during his briefing on President Buhari’s Scorecards 2015- 2022 that the Abuja-Kaduna rail Service will resume operations this month.
The Minister stressed that after the abductees have been safely reunited with their families the rail operation will resume immediately.
However, this is coming about 8 months after the service was suspension due to a terrorist attack on the route.
Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) had suspended the Abuja-Kaduna train operations after it was attacked by gunmen on March 28, leading to the death, injuries, and abduction of several passengers.
According to a reliable source within the Idu rail station said operations will begin on Monday.
The source said some contractors were at the Idu rail station to install trackers and cameras.
“They couldn’t install the cameras but they installed the trackers on LOKO 2809 and DMU 003,” the source said.
Mr. Fidet Okhiria, managing director, Nigerian Railway Corporation, is seriously monitoring it from Lagos. We are proposing to start running by next week Monday.”
“Currently, we are running Lagos-Ibadan from the money we are making from the Abuja-Kaduna rail service.”
