Following his successful re-election as the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP) during the party’s national convention held in Nnewi, Anambra State, Mr. Julius Abure has announced significant developments and recommendations for the party’s future course.
Mr. Abure, in his post-convention address, highlighted the party’s commitment to filling vacant positions, particularly the deputy national chairmen roles earmarked for the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). He emphasized the importance of a unified leadership structure to propel the party forward effectively.
In a joint communique issued with Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the National Secretary, Mr. Abure affirmed the party’s recognition of Mr. Peter Obi’s exemplary performance before, during, and after the 2023 general election. He announced that the party had recommended reserving the 2027 presidential ticket exclusively for Mr. Obi, reflecting the party’s trust and confidence in his leadership abilities.
Moreover, the convention undertook a thorough review of Dr. Alex Otti’s tenure as the party’s governor in Abia State, expressing unwavering confidence in his leadership. As a result, the convention recommended reserving the 2027 gubernatorial ticket for Abia State for Dr. Otti, acknowledging his dedication and contributions to the party’s objectives.
