Renowned comic actor, John Okafor, widely known as Mr. Ibu, remains bedridden as he recently underwent another surgery on the leg that was amputated a month ago.
Sadly, his condition has worsened to the extent that communication has become a significant challenge for him.
In a recent update on the health of ailing actors, Dr. Emeka Rollas, National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), shared insights into the distressing situation.
“We are resigning to fate concerning the two actors,” Dr. Rollas expressed during a telephone conversation with newsmen. He disclosed that Mr. Ibu’s ability to speak has drastically diminished, and an additional amputation on the same leg has taken place.
In a related development, concerns have grown for veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor, who has been hospitalized at Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi for over two months.
Quest Times further reports that Dr. Rollas who visited Muonagor along with colleagues, described the actor’s health as pitiable, with complete paralysis of his legs.
“You will shed tears if you see Amaechi Muonagor now,” shared Dr. Rollas, urging fans and well-wishers to support the actor in these challenging times.
Moreover, the AGN Trust Fund has approved a sum of N250,000 for Muonagor, but it may not be sufficient considering his medical expenses, he added.
Rollas also emphasized the importance for young actors to enroll in the AGN HMO and Insurance programmes, underscoring the need for support networks in the industry.
It is worth recalling that Amaechi Muonagor is battling kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke.
His cousin, Tony, revealed the actor’s health struggles, emphasizing the ongoing treatments and weekly dialysis at Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi.
