Nollywood actor, Olumide Oworu, who played the role of ‘Tari Johnson’ in the popular TV series ‘The Johnsons’ has announced his intention to run for a sit in the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Surulere Constituency 1 under the Labour Party (LP).Â
This move follows in the footsteps of other senior actors who have ventured into politics. Currently, the position is held by Desmond Elliot, a fellow actor turned politician, who is seeking a third term under the All Progressive Congress (APC).Â
Oworu expressed his gratitude to his fans and colleagues for their support and acknowledged that the youth of Nigeria are now more politically aware and actively striving to participate in the country’s political process to make a positive change.Â
In his announcement, Olumide Oworu wrote, “It is with a sense of honour and duty that I announce my candidacy for membership of The Lagos State House of Assembly – Surulere Constituency 1 on the platform of The Labour Party.Â
“The youth of this generation in Nigeria are more politically aware than ever and are now striving to have our voices heard and take part in the government process of this great country.Â
“As someone with a passion for youth development, it is on this note that I tender myself in service to play my part in the actualization of an all inclusive government, where the young Nigerian intellectuals have a chance to make a change by being a part of the move for the creation of a new Nigeria.Â
