Football pundit and ex-Aston Villa forward, Gabriel Agbonlahor has stated that Casemiro “should be arrested” for “strangling” Will Hughes during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
The Brazilian midfielder was given a straight red card following a VAR review for the incident involving Hughes.
He will miss three games as a result, but thankfully for Erik ten Hag and Casemiro’s teammates, he will be back in time to face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.
Casemiro will be suspended for the doubleheader against rivals Leeds United and the home match against Leicester City as a result of the punishment, perhaps giving January signing Marcel Sabitzer the chance to impress.
Speaking in TalkSport, Agbonlahor insisted Casemiro needs to be disciplined internally by United, likening his actions to a move by the UFC.
Agbonlahor compared the Brazilian’s actions to those that former UFC star Brock Lesnar usually performs in the octagon.
“Casemiro thought it was Brock Lesnar in the UFC,” Agbonlahor said.
“The way he was strangling Will Hughes, he should be arrested for that. The kids are seeing that later, in Match of the Day. See Casemiro strangling an opponent.
“This is not ice hockey in America, where they have a fight during the game. This is football, we don’t want to see that.
“So Casemiro needs to be banned by Manchester United,” he said.
