Adamu Aliero, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the Kebbi Central Senatorial District, has accused the Governors of hijacking the party’s platform and being to blame for the mistakes made of the Senators who did not win re-election to the 10th National Assembly.
He disclosed this during an Interview with QUEST TIMES shortly after the valedictory session held at the National Assembly Abuja on Saturday.
Recalled that QUEST TIMES had reported that 58 senators will not be returning to the Senate as they failed to secure the nomination of tickets at their states.
He said, “It is unfortunate that the rate of return of Senators is very low because the ruling party ( APC) lacks internal democracy. If you look at it most of the Senators that are not coming back couldn’t secure the tickets to their party.
” Even I couldn’t get a ticket in the APC, so I had to move to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to secure a ticket. This is because the APC lacks internal democracy, and the governors are largely to blame for hijacking the party and imposing candidates regardless of whether they will win or not. This is responsible for the loss of most of the senators who are not returning to the Senate.
“These governors that stood for elections in their states lost because they’re not popular and didn’t do anything to merit the elections.
According to him even the immediate past president Buhari was surprised that some sitting Governors could lose the election.
