Popular Nigerian health influencer, Dr Chinonso Egemba also known as Aproko Doctor, has warned against the use of antiseptic soaps for daily bathing, citing the risk of triggering thyroid issues.
Aproko Doctor explained that antiseptic soaps are loaded with harsh chemicals that can strip the skin of its natural oils and disrupt its delicate microbiome. This can lead to a variety of skin problems, including dryness, eczema, and psoriasis.
He added that antiseptic soaps can kill beneficial germs that protect the body from harm as this can make people more susceptible to infections and other health problems, including thyroid issues.
The thyroid, he further explained, is a gland located in the neck that produces hormones that regulate metabolism, growth, and development. Exposure to certain chemicals can disrupt thyroid function, leading to a variety of health problems, such as weight gain, fatigue, and hair loss.
