A group linked with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Northern Nigeria has brought to light a concerning issue regarding a protest staged against Bello Mohammed Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence.
According to the group, the protest, which occurred at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Headquarters in Abuja, was orchestrated by forces aiming to tarnish the minister’s reputation.
During a press conference held in Sokoto, Alhaji Hashimu Ado Danmalam, speaking on behalf of the group, disclosed that the individuals behind the protest were not indigenous to Zamfara State, where Matawalle hails from.
Danmalam further alleged the involvement of an unnamed APC lawmaker from Zamfara who is purportedly colluding with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to orchestrate these protests.
“All these sponsored campaigns of calumny and mischief against Minister Bello Matawalle are being sponsored by those who are not happy with his performances and defence against the perceived political enemies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the region.
“It is clear that the Honourable Minister of Defense State is targeted because of his commitment to the success of President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, and publicly giving these perceived enemies of the President sleepless nights,” the group said.
