Two of the kidnapped victims of last week’s banditry attack on the Kubwa Extension II Relocation Estate, along the Arab Road area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have regained their freedom.
Gunmen numbering about seven, last Tuesday night attacked Extension 2 Relocation, along Arab Road, Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
During the attack, which lasted for about an hour, an ex-corps member simply identified as Adenike, was kidnapped in her father’s house alongside seven others.
A Pastor with House of David Ministry International Abuja, Timothy Ehizua, was also identified as one of the people abducted.
A man popularly known as Oshodi was shot dead while another male shot in the attack was taken to the hospital because he was unconscious.
Quest Times earlier reported that their abductors demanded for 100million ransom each.
However, Adenike and Pastor Timothy Ehizua regained their freedom from the bandits six days after they were abducted alongside five others.
An unspecified amount of money was reportedly paid as ransom.
The five victims reportedly still in the kidnappers’ den were two male children, a woman, and two male adults.
Confirming the development on Monday, the Chairman of the estate, Suleiman Seidu, said, “Yes, Pastor and the young lady, Adenike, have been released. They were released yesterday (Sunday).”
The Vice-Chairman of the estate, Frank Boboi, said, “We are happy that Adenike has been released. She was released on Sunday and has since returned to her family.
“Yes, a ransom was paid, but I can’t disclose the sum, as it is confidential. But we thank God, the community and everyone for their support.”
A family source also confirmed the development.
“A ransom was paid for her freedom. We hope that others will be released soon as well,” the source added.
